This presentation will take the form of a session which is aimed at providing practical considerations when preparing first registration and adverse possession applications. The session will explore alternatives to the traditional applications under sections 28 & 85 of the Registration of Titles Act, namely Certificates of Compliance pursuant to the Facilities for Title Act and Adjudication Certificates and Systematic Adjudication under the Registration of Titles, Cadastral Mapping and Tenure Clarification (Special Provisions) Act.

Admitted to the bar in 2002, Ms. MacLean spent her first two years of practice as a Legal Officer for the then Ministry of Water & Housing. In 2009, after a brief stint in private practice, she re-joined the government service as a Legal Officer with the National Land Agency (NLA). During her tenure, Ms. Maclean has held various managerial roles at the NLA. She is currently the Acting Senior Director of the Land Titles Division and the Acting Registrar of Titles. In this capacity, she oversees the administration of the Registration of Titles Act and the Registration (Strata Titles) Act which involves the registration of unregistered lands and the registration of dealings against registered lands. Ms. MacLean is also responsible for the administrative oversight of the Office of Titles.
