The Social Affairs and Outreach Committee is responsible for organising and hosting events and activities that:
- Promote fellowship and social interaction between the members of the legal profession and create opportunities to strengthen their interpersonal relationships; and
- Further the Association’s commitment to the social welfare of its members, the profession and the wider society.
To this end the committee arranges an annual roster of enjoyable events that bring a diverse cross-section of the profession together to create new friendships and cement existing ones. The proceeds of these events are partly applied for charitable causes, such as The Glenhope Nursery, and also contribute to the revenue of the association.
Signature annual events organised by the committee include:
- Two small but highly anticipated socials branded “Bar Beat”, one in the Hilary Term and one in the Michaelmas Term. These are held at various popular venues in Kingston and are known for their great music and atmosphere.
- The association’s prestigious Annual Banquet, held in mid-July to honour outstanding members of the profession who have exemplified the ideals of legal practice and contributed to the growth, development and standing of the profession.
